The city of horses in California
Norco in California provides the perfect location for the horse lover. The city, which is situated north of Los Angeles, has a population of 27,000 and each family has at least two horses. It’s no wonder then that it has proclaimed itself “the city of horses.“ Where there would usually be footpaths there are horse trails and local politics is dominated by concerns over animal-keeping especially in terms of development concerns. The city mayor, Kathy Azevedo, explained: “Most of our citizens spend more time on a horse than in a car, but we do raise taxes from automobile use in and around the city.“ While cars are of use, it seems that the good citizens of Norco prefer mane street to main street.
