Following the Tracks of Nomadic Riders: The 2025 Gallops in Kyrgyzstan

After traversing the ochre hues of the Sharqiya Sands desert (Oman, 2014), Merzouga (Morocco, 2018), Rajasthan (India, 2019), and Wadi Rum (Jordan, 2021, culminating in Petra), the Gallops return in 2025 with an extraordinary destination. This summer, participants will journey to the magnificent and unspoiled landscapes of Kyrgyzstan, following in the footsteps of the legendary Kyrgyz horsemen.

The Spirit of the Gallops
The Gallops are far more than a mere equestrian competition—they embody a distinctive human, cultural, and sporting experience. Since their inception in 2014, this exceptional event has drawn riders from around the world, inspired by the spirit of adventure and the convivial atmosphere of this equestrian raid. Both exclusive and open to all, the Gallops have become a must-attend event for enthusiasts of horses and vast open spaces. For its fifth edition, the Gallops are venturing into a region that remains largely undiscovered and untouched by mass tourism: Central Asia. Fifty riders, already signed up, will traverse Kyrgyzstan’s mountains on Kyrgyz horses—a robust and enduring breed. The Concept: A Unique Equestrian RaidThe Gallops stay true to their traditions: five stages of 30 to 40 kilometres, to be completed within an optimal timeframe. This is not merely a race against the clock but an equestrian challenge where endurance, strategy, and navigation are paramount. Guided by GPS, riders will travel through awe-inspiring landscapes whilst tackling both a physical and personal challenge. Whilst the competitive spirit is undoubtedly present, it is the quest for adventure and self-discovery that truly motivates participants. This one-of-a-kind event unites riders from diverse nationalities and equestrian disciplines, making the Gallops a true melting pot of horse lovers.
Why Kyrgyzstan?
“I discovered Kyrgyzstan’s fascinating equestrian traditions through the World Nomad Games. These events celebrate the horse peoples of Central Asia with disciplines such as Er Enish (horseback wrestling), Kok Boru (akin to Buzkashi), Kyz Kumai (a romantic horseback game), and eagle hunting,” explains Bady Kebir, co-creator of the Gallops alongside Benoît Perrier, manager of the Polo Club of Chantilly. “But that’s not all,” he continues. “I was also captivated by Kyrgyzstan’s landscapes: majestic mountains covering 95% of the country, peaks rising above 7,000 metres, and untouched natural surroundings. It is here, along the legendary Silk Road, that we envisioned the route for this fifth edition.”
An Extraordinary Experience
Participants and their companions will immerse themselves in nomadic life, staying in meticulously arranged yurt camps. They will marvel at spectacular landscapes, such as the shores of Lake Song Köl, located 3,000 metres above sea level, where crystal-clear waters reflect the verdant Tian Shan mountain range. Beyond the equestrian stages, the I Am Nomad programme will immerse adventurers in local traditions: learning nomadic games, exploring Kyrgyz craftsmanship, and enjoying the country’s renowned wholesome and flavourful cuisine. The experience will conclude with the iconic White Party, an unforgettable festive evening that has become the signature event of the Gallops.

An Adventure Not to Be MissedThe 2025 Gallops promise an exceptional adventure where sport, nature, and culture intertwine in breathtaking surroundings. This rare experience will revive the spirit of nomadic riders during an extraordinary equestrian raid.
