Team GB conquer Gijòn
Great Britain have beaten host nation Spain in the Gijòn leg of the Furusiyya FEI Nations Cup after edging out their Spanish rivals by a mere point collecting 16 penalties to Spain’s 17.
This is how the British riders took to the field: Tim Stockdale with Fleur d’Aube ( 0 / 4 ), Joe Whitaker with Lola V ( 8 / 12, both results discarded), Samuel Hutton with Happydam ( 0 / 8) and Robert Bevis with Courtney Z ( 4 / 0).
Runners up Spain were in action as follows: Eduardo Alvarez Aznar with Fidux ( 5 / 0), Armando Trapote with Macao ( 4 / 12 discarded), Gerardo Menendez with Cassino DC ( 12 discarded / 0) and Sergio Alvarez Moya with Arrayan ( 8 / 0).
The final podium slot went to the young Dutch line-up of Doron Kuipers with Zinius ( 4 / 0), Bril Roelof with Arlando (4 / 4), Charlotte Verhagen with Abache HL (13 / 16 both results discarded) and Sanne Thijssen with Captain Cooper (8 / 4).
