Surprise win at Fei World Cup in Verona

There was a surprise at the Fei World Cup in Verona in the Alberto Zorzi trophy.Abdel Said took first place. The 27-year-old only made the event thanks to a wild card and finished ahead of Simon Delestre who won last year and this time around unveiled his new star Chesall Zimequest to the Pala BMW public.Third was the Swiss rider Martin Fuchs on Clooney.Egyptian Abdel Said has lived in Belgium for quite a few years where he started at the Jos Lansink stables at the age of 19 and at 21 started his own stable to bring through young horses.Hope van Scherpen Donder is precisely one of these young horses that came through the facility near Antwerp, and the seven-year-old female out of 2007 Quadrillo daughter and grandson through maternal line of Balou du Rouet, achieved its greatest success in Verona.The overall standings of the World Cup after this fourth stage, is the Swiss Romain Duguet leading the standings with 37 points followed by Frenchman Simon Delestre on 31 and in third place the Belgian Pieter Devos with 28 points, same score for the fourth-ranked Kevin Staut.
Following the 5th, 6th and 7th place with 25 points the American Lauren Hough, Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum and Steve Guerdat.
Also in the top ten is our own Lorenzo De Luca, 8th with 21 points.
Rounding out the top 10 Irish rider Shane Breen with 21 points and the Egyptian Abdel Said with 20 points.
