Showing Jumping: The British Equestrian Federation starts a 12-month training course
A new and interesting initiative has emerged from Great Britain regarding professional training in the equestrian sector: the British Equestrian Federation has launched a development programme for youngster riders. The Sporting Excellence Study Programme was announced last November and is the result of collaboration between Haddon Training and British Showjumping will give teenagers between the ages of 16 and 19 to obtain the Certificate in Understanding and Achieving Sporting Excellence.The programme is a 12-month apprenticeship which offers participants the possibility to continue their training through a nationally recognized programme while at the same time benefitting from the teachings of coaches and experts.Among the subjects covered by the initiative are:Technical and tactical notions for high-level sporting performancePhysiotherapy and fitness for the jockiesSporting nutritionSports psychologyFinancial planningImage managementMedia and communicationEnrollment is open until the 4th of January 2018 and it is not necessary to be a British citizen, but applicants must be residents in the United Kingdom. The other requirements are that the applicants are from 16 to 18 years old and are unemployment.
