Saab Top 10 Dressage starts off with Grand Prix-win for Jessica von Bredow-Werndl
The audience at Sweden International Horse Show could enjoy some top class dressage on Saturday as the Saab Top 10-stars entered the arena. Jessica von Bredow-Werndl won the star-studded Grand Prix ahead of Cathrine Dufour.
Jessica Von Bredow-Werndl, the Olympic gold medalist who currently holds the first position on the FEI Dressage World Ranking, won the class. The German dressage queen achieved 83,425 percent together with Tsf Dalera BB.
– Dalera was excited and full of energi. She loves traveling and competing and easily gets bored at home, says Jessica who was glad to be back and meet the audience at SIHS.
– This was the first show indoors since before corona so Dalera is a little inexperienced, but she easily got used to it. This was a really fun show to compete at, she adds.
On Sunday, they will be back riding the Grand Prix Freestyle, with music from the film La La Land.
– I am really looking forward to the freestyle, I always aim at doing it even better than we have done in the past, von Bredow-Werndl says.
Second place for world number two
At second place we find world number two Cathrine Dufour. The Danish rider got 79,196 percent on Bohemian.
– It is so amazing to be back at Friends Arena, I have many lovely memories from this place. The audience is amazing and really good at cheering on us, says Dufour who will be riding the freestyle on Sunday with tunes from the musical Les Misérables.
– The freestyle will be so much fun, but the competition really is crazy good. We all have to fight hard!
In third place we find Finnish rider Henri Ruoste with Kontestro DB. This rising star was talk of the town during the European Championships when he somewhat unexpectedly grabbed sixth place in both the Grand Prix and Grand Prix Freestyle amid fierce competition.
– Since the European Championships we haven’t done much more than taking a well-deserved rest. It is so much fun to be back. The arena and the show are amazing. This is one of the best, perhaps even the very best, shows in the world, says Henri Ruoste.
