Frederic Wandres and Bluetooth overtake Ingrid Klimke for third place in the German Olympic team
The selection committee for the dressage discipline of the German Olympic Equestrian Committee (DOKR) has announced the team that will represent Germany at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
Germany was one of two nations to wait until the last minute to announce the team, while Sweden has yet to name the third rider on the team and the reserve rider.
Following the results of the CHIO Aachen, the German team for Paris will consist of:
- Jessica von Bredow-Werndl – Dalera BB (17-year-old Trakehner female from Easy Game – Handryk, owner: Beatrice Bürchler-Keller, breeder: Silke Druckenmüller, groom: Franziska Leonhardt)
- Frederic Wandres – Bluetooth OLD (14-year-old Gelding Oldenburg from Bordeaux – Riccione, owner: Hof Kasselmann, breeder: Gestüt Lewitz, groom: Lars Ligus)
- Isabell Werth – Wendy (Female Danish Warmblood from Sezuan – Soprano, owner: Chateau de Fontaine and Madeleine Winter-Schulze, groom: Stefanie Wiegard)
- Reserve: Ingrid Klimke – Franziskus (16-year-old Hanoverian stallion from Fidertanz – Alabaster, owner: Wilhelm Holkenbrink, breeder: Elisabeth Albers, groom: Carmen Thiemann)
Coach Monica Theodorescu and Jonny Hilberath will lead the team, while the chef d’equipe will be Klaus Roeser.
The selection was particularly competitive, with Frederic Wandres and his horse Bluetooth OLD overtaking Ingrid Klimke to take third place in the Olympic team, thanks to an outstanding performance at the CHIO Aachen this week.
This event highlighted the high level of German dressage, confirming expectations for a strong representation at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
The German team presents itself as one of the favourites for the podium, with highly experienced and successful horses and riders.
