Riding to Success: An Interview with Saeed Hamad S H Juma

Qatar’s equestrian scene is growing rapidly, producing talented riders who compete on an international level. One such rising star is Saeed Hamad S H Juma, a 25-year-old showjumping rider based in Doha, Qatar. Passionate about the sport, Saeed is making a name for himself in the competitive world of horse jumping. We had the pleasure of speaking with him about his journey, his horse, and the future of equestrianism in Qatar.
A Passion for Showjumping
From the very beginning, Saeed’s love for horse riding has been undeniable. “I’ve been riding for quite some time now, and I’m passionate about the sport,” he shares. “It’s a huge part of my life.” His dedication is evident in his commitment to training and competing at the highest levels.
A Partnership Built for Success
Every great rider needs a great horse, and Saeed has found that in Kryptonite Van Den Hoek, a talented horse owned by the Wathnan Team. “We just bought him this summer, and he’s a fantastic horse,” Saeed says. “I’ve already participated in six shows with him. He has a lot of potential, and I’m excited about what’s ahead.” Their partnership is still developing, but with each competition, they continue to grow stronger together.
Al Shaqab: A World-Class Equestrian Venue
Qatar’s equestrian facilities are among the best in the world, and Al Shaqab is a standout. “It’s one of the best venues I’ve ever been to,” Saeed states. “It’s exceptionally tidy, and the fields are fantastic—there are more than 20 fields for training. The stables are top-notch, with over 200 available. But what makes Al Shaqab truly special is the incredible atmosphere and the world-class racetrack. It’s a perfect setting for both horses and riders.”

Competing at the Doha Tour
For any rider looking to test their skills against top international competitors, the Doha Tour is an unmissable event. Saeed considers it one of his favorites. “The Doha Tour is incredible because it attracts top riders from all over the world. Competing against them is an amazing opportunity for growth. The competition is fierce, and it really helps us become more competitive as riders.”
The Future of Equestrianism in Qatar
Qatar has been making great strides in equestrian sports, and Saeed is optimistic about the future. “I’ve seen a huge improvement in the level of Qatari riders. We’re competing at a global level now, and new teams like Wathnan are supporting young riders, helping them grow in the sport. The future looks very promising for equestrianism here.”
Looking Ahead
With his passion, dedication, and the right support system, Saeed Juma is on a promising path in the equestrian world. As Qatar’s equestrian scene continues to develop, riders like him are pushing the sport to new heights.
We thank Saeed for sharing his insights and wish him the best in his journey ahead. There’s no doubt that we’ll be seeing more of him and Kryptonite Van Den Hoek in future competitions!
