Results round-up from Mechelen
Two Azzurri riders are in action at the CSI5*-W Mechelen in Belgium in the form of De Luca and Emanuele Gaudiano. The former got off to a flyer earlier this week as he won Tuesday’s trial with Halifax van het Kluizebos in the Open Sires of the World Zangersheide. As for Gaudiano he has also impressed so far by coming sixth in the Jumping Mechelen over 1.40m which was won by Harrie Smolders of Holland.
In other results, the KBC Bank and Verzekering over 1.50m was won yesterday by the French rider Simon Delestre with Sultan du Chateau while Belgium’s Karel Cox with Tchao de la Roque won the Flandria Rent six-bar challenge. There was also a good finish for Gaudiano who ended the trial joint third with Douglas Lindelow.
Looking ahead today sees the young riders take centre stage for the student championship followed by the driving and vaulting legs of the world cup. What’s more, athletes will be in action with the CSI5* trials. It all begins with the Stephex Stables Queens Cup over 1.45m and comes to an end with the Sport Vlaanderen GP over 1.50m.
