Profile of Randal Z, the father to the best horse at the WEG Cortes C’
The success of Cortes C’ at the World Equestrian Games has raised the profile once more of the Belgian stud-farm Zangersheide. The mount Cortes C was raised by the stud-farm and was elected the best horse at the WEG. At the event, Cortes C only made one error in 9 consecutive rounds in the show-jumping and was the only one of 4 performers to score a clear round with every rider in the grand finale.
The beautiful black horse, that is greatly admired by its US rider Beezie Madden, is the son of Zangersheide stallion Randal Z.
Randal Z was born 30 years ago in Lanaken and is currently used for breeding purposes at Haras des Aucels. Just like legends Ratina Z, Robin I Z and Riviera Z, Randal Z is a descendant from Ramiro Z and Almè Z, and one of his grandsons is Cicero van Paemel Z and one of his daughters gave birth to the great Cornet Obolensky.
With all that in mind, it’s hardly a surprise that one of his offspring was voted as the best horse at the WEG.
