Laura Renwick Wins CSI2* Grand Prix in Oliva Nova with Enjoy CK Z
Oliva Nova, Spain, December 2, 2024 – Great Britain’s Laura Renwick claimed victory in the CSI2* 1.45m Grand Prix presented by Dammann Reitplatz- u. Sportplatzbau GmbH during the first week of the final phase of the Autumn MET 2024. Riding the exceptional Enjoy CK Z, an 11-year-old mare (Echo van’T Spielveld x Coronado), Renwick delivered an outstanding performance in the closing event at Centro Ecuestre Oliva Nova.
From the 69 horse-and-rider combinations that started, 13 advanced to the decisive jump-off. Renwick secured the win with a lightning-fast time of 38.29 seconds, narrowly beating French Olympic team bronze medallist Olivier Perreau and his 9-year-old Frisky de La Fontaine (Diamant de Semilly x Darco), who finished second, just 0.30 seconds behind.
“The course was quite technical, and the time allowed was very influential,” Renwick said of the first round. “The course design was excellent; it’s not easy to build a two-star Grand Prix and get a good number of clears for the jump-off, but they managed it today.”
Renwick had high praise for her mare: “I cannot say enough about her today; she was incredible. She was already double clear and finished fourth in yesterday’s ranking class, but I was a bit slow at the start of the course then. Today, I wanted to be quicker, and she gave me everything. I am thankful to Ben Maher for giving me the ride on her. He rode her before me, and since he had multiple horses, he passed her on to me – and I am so grateful.”
Commenting on Centro Ecuestre Oliva Nova, Renwick added: “This is an amazing venue that keeps improving. I think it’s one of the best showgrounds there is, both for horses and riders.”
The podium was completed by Sweden’s Alexander Zetterman with Parfait d’Avril (Casallco x Uskudar der Malais), who finished third with a time of 39.07 seconds. Ireland’s Niall Talbot and Charming Dream Z (Carrera VDL x Cagliostro 161) placed fourth in 40.10 seconds, followed by Norway’s Pål Flam aboard Mega Special DC (I M Special de Muze x Landadel), fifth in 40.65 seconds.
The Autumn MET 2024 continues for two more weeks, concluding on December 15, before the Spring MET 2025 kicks off on January 14, 2025.
