The 6yr old, Young Horses were back in Montenmedio’s arenas and the CSI3* ramps up towards an exciting end to the week.

On the penultimate day of the first week of international competition, the Young Horses, CSIYH*, kicked off with many of this week’s top placed horses, continuing with excellent results.  The last test for the 5-year-olds this week, was jumped in the grass, Hickstead arena and Gonçalo Ribeiro Pinto with Oakley Raijminka was a clear winner in this 1.20, 2Ph Sp class. Second place went to the Olympic rider,  João Marquilhas with O Dorado Equigenne and third place to James Ingham with Marli.  

The 6-year-olds were back in the arenas todays with a  1.30m,  2Ph Sp where Chelone Z and Irish rider,  Nicholas Connors really stood out.  Jean Christophe Galet took second place with Spencer van Het Netehof, and Michael Pender with HHS Othelo were third, just a 1 millisecond behind. Today was a rest day for the 7-year-olds.

In the CSI3*, in the 2Ph Sp, 1.35m class,  Cini W Z ridden by  Liv Linssen was first. Michael Pender was again on the podium, this time with the Irish stallion HHS Savanna, and Oliver Close rounded off the top three with Jumping Jack ZF.  The winner of the 1.10m class (also a 2Ph Sp) was Cassandra Cope on Vinella.  Jing-De Joshua Tan came in second with Dracarys Z X and third was Isabella Beecroft-Luckett riding Cevin’s Heartbreaker.  In the 1.20m,  the young Romanian rider Anda Elena Bojita and I’m Legend flew into first place,  in second place was Isabella Beecroft-Luckett with Zandara Z, followed by the British Imogen Beecroft riding the veteran, Chablis.  The winner of the 1.30m class was, Scarlett Dentressangle and Echo du Galopin.  Jesús Garmendia Echevarría took both second and third place riding Falsco PS and Lenfissich resp’.  

The 1.40m, Small Grand Prix was sponsored by the ‘Ayuntamiento de Vejer’, (Vejer Town Hall) and was won by today’s star of the show, Brazilian rider,  João Victor Castro with Georges de Beaufour after a spectacular 18 horse jump off from the 65 entries.  Charlotte Leoni had a super round and took second with Black Star and Liv Linssen was on the podium again, and also repeated her third placing yesterday in the 1.35m,  with the young,  Lyn.

In the Longines Ranking 1.45m 2Ph Sp,  João Victor Castro was once again unbeatable, this time on the very fast, Babacool.  Close behind him was Emil Hallundbaek on Chalisco in second place and the young Irish rider, Marta Hughes-Bravo on HHS Figero had a well deserved result taking third. 

On the third day of the Regional Pony tests; Lucas Hernández González was once again the fastest in the 1.10 metre course (D ponies). Jimena Trapote Blázquez was first with her C pony Espoir du Chene in the 1 metre,  and Romy Galet Roux also finished first,  jumping Anis du Vert over the 0.80-0.90 metre track.  In the last class of the day, the 0.60 metre, Ana Ocaña came first,  this time with the A pony Charlot.

Tomorrow concludes the first week of equestrian events of the Andalucía October Tour supported by the sponsorship of the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport, and co-financed by the European Union and the Cádiz Provincial Council.
