Jacques Sauvage, the painter who draws inspiration from horses
Throughout August the works of Jacques Sauvage will be on display in Castel del Rio. The Frenchman’s show entitled “Il cavallo, nobless oblige“ can be enjoyed at the Lama di Bagura estate in Belvedere, Castel del Rio (in via Sillaro 2361/a).The artist who has been living in Italy for over 40 years refuses to accept the tag handed out by critics as a painter of ‘modern figurative’, instead he prefers the term ‘correct naif’ and explained why.He said: “Because of the various nuances in my opera: the horese which inspire me, the art of Ligabue, the maritime landscapes from Gauguin and other landscapes from Van Gogh.”Also on display are two trees Sauvage made from copper wire.
