Niamh Mcevoy on Templepatrick Welcome Limmerick at FEI European Championships Gorla Minore 2023

Voice to our readers: Niamh Mcevoy

The young and talented showjumper Niamh Mcevoy just recently participated at the European Championships in Gorla Minore, which is just another testament for the power of talent, hard work and dedication for the Irish showjumper.

Winning the CSIO3*  Grand Prix in Vejer de la Frontera last year in October is just one of the many results from the young rider. Templepatrick Welcome Limmerick, is the top horse with whom Niamh has been climbing up the ranks with and that has also helped her reach another Milestone; Team gold at the European Championships in Gorla Minore 2023.

«She is a great horse, we did a lot together last year I jumped her in our first 5* GP in Dublin last summer and also in my first senior Nations Cup, so she has plenty of millage, we know each other inside and out so it is very nice to be here with her.” Niamh tells us one day before the Friday’s team final , in which they delivered yet another clear to help team Ireland win team gold».

When we asked Niamh halfway through the championships what her goals were for the rest of the weekend she told us that the aim and hopes were high for a team medal, She answered: «At the beginning of the year she indulged a small injury so this is the first big show back, so I am delighted on how this championship has been going so far, of course our main goal is a team medal, I think everyone has big hopes for that, all horses have been in great form, we are currently on a score of zero so we hope that luck will be on our side tomorrow».

Goals set and achieved for the young Irish lady and her team mates as they went on to conquer team gold, later on Friday afternoon.

We asked: «What are your goals with Templepatrick Welcome Limmerick and your other horses for the rest of the year?»

«I really hope to get into some bigger shows with her and as for my other horses owned by Greg Broderick my aim is to get some good results at the Dublin horse show, we have some very nice new horses in our team, I am especially excited about a new 9yo that I have, his name is Jargon ( Zirocco Blue x Indoctro), so despite the sale of two top horses at the beginning of the season I still have the chance to produce exciting prospects for the rest of the season thanks to my boss Greg that has been a great mentor and trainer in my career so far».
