HSJ’s interview with Greg Broderick
The Irish showjumper at the FEI European Championship Gorla Minore
During the European Championships in Gorla Minore we met with Greg Broderick, Irish showjumper, owner of Ballypatrick stable in Ireland, that was present in Gorla Minore as a mentor for his rider Niamh Mcevoy.
Born and raised in the picturesque landscapes of County Tipperary, Ireland, Broderick’s passion for horses ignited at a young age, setting him on a path to become a great horseman all over the world.
For many years Broderick was a representative of Ireland in the most prestigious international showjumping stages. A crowning moment in his career came in 2016 when he and his exceptional equine partner, MHS Going Global, soared to victory in the celebrated Grand Prix at the revered RDS Dublin Horse Show.
Along his career, he was able to achieve numerous milestones, not just as a rider but also with the establishment of his breeding and dealing stable, producing world class horses such as Aconzina Ps and Olivia de Muze, that are just two of the most recent top horses that have been sold by Ballypatrick to the American showjumper Paris Sellon.
Greg Broderick’s contributions to the equestrian world extend beyond the arena, evident in the success of his breeding and dealing stable. Recognizing the profound impact of superior bloodlines and exceptional equine genetics, he ventured into breeding with a mission to produce world-class Irish Sport Horses with boundless potential.
Through meticulous selection of stallions and mares, coupled with a deep understanding of the industry, Broderick has cultivated a portfolio of exceptional horses. Greg places great emphasis on laying a strong foundation for young horses, ensuring they receive comprehensive education before progressing to higher-level competitions.
Last year was the first edition of the Ballypatrick online auction, that hosted 21 top class showjumpers from floals to six-year-olds, with carefully selected breeding lines. Making this just one more milestone to add to the talented business man Greg Broderick.
