HSJ’s interview with Tony Stormanns

FEI Jumping Europeans Championship Ch/J/YR 2023

We met with the 2022 Children European Champion Tony Stormanns in Gorla Minore for the 2023 European Championships. This time Tony is competing in the junior category. As this being his first year as a junior he has already delivered promising results. Together with Cinnamo he won his first junior Grand Prix in Zuidwolde. This weekend at the Europeans he is also riding Cinnamo wich is a fairly new mount for Tony.

“Riding is my whole life” Tony states.  “My long term goal is to make a good picture of myself during my junior years As this being my first year as a junior I am not setting my hopes too high, but being able to go to the Europeans as my first year is already something very special for me”.

Tony already knows how it feels to go into a championship and the pressure there can be. 

“Having won gold at last year’s championship is for sure an unforgettable memory that I will forever cherish”.

Tell us about the horse you took with you this year?

“This year I am riding Cinnamo, he is a 9yo and  he is a fairly new mount for me, I have only had him since a few months but I am extremely satisfied about our results so far and what we have been able to achieve in such short time. I am very excited about the future with him”.
