Italy is leading in the under 16 and under 21 categories, while the French team takes command in the other divisions
Verona, August 18, 2023 – The European Horseball Championships 2023, currently underway at the Sommacampagna Equestrian Center in Caselle di Sommacampagna, observed a rest day on August 17. This strategic interlude offered participants the chance to recharge and prepare for the thrilling upcoming finale.
Commencing on Monday, August 14, the event will culminate tomorrow, Saturday, August 19, with the crowning of the European champions for 2023.
Italy has adeptly showcased its skills and resolve in the youth categories, securing the top positions in the provisional standings for the under 16 and under 21 categories.
In the under 16 category, Italian team is composed by Virginia Banchio, Lorenzo Fontana, Gabriele Viviani, Tommaso Beccaria, Silvia Baroni, Alessandro Farina, and Tommaso Carletti. The team notched an impressive victory against Great Britain on the opening day with a score of 13-1, followed by a win against Spain on August 16 with a score of 7-5, and finally against Portugal on August 17 with a resounding 14-2 victory.
In the under 21 category, the Italian squad, featuring Luca Lanzi, Giacomo Lanzi, Elia Colombo, Alessandro Baroni, Alessandro Viviani, Alban Le Tacon, and Pietro Introcaso, has demonstrated incredible synchronization and strong teamwork, resulting in a draw with Spain on the first day, 4-4, a draw with Portugal on the second day, 8-8, and a commanding triumph against Belgium on Wednesday with a dominant score of 15-1.
Nevertheless, it is France that commands attention in the under 10 category, where the promising talents of Loubin Vandenabeele, Valentino Borras, Marius Schriffure, Marceau Lesage, and Jules Jadas have propelled their team to the forefront, showcasing exceptional skill and potential.
In the Ladies and Pro Elite categories, France maintains control. Names like Lisa Bourdon, Justine Ammann, Romane Convers, Margaux Bouchery, Roxanne Dubois, Shirley Antoine, Anasthasia Dubois, and Emma Boudinaud are shining in the Ladies category, while in the Pro Elite category, talents like Tom Dupau, Antoine Cocoynaco, Mickael Mureau, Benjamin Bodin, Lucas Bello, Sacha Tosetto, Thomas Marchal, and Thomas Chevalier stand out.
