Horse riding: The problem with pregnancy

Even in the world of sport pregnancy is a problem for women, especially in horse riding. The fact is it should not be a problem, but rather a joyous event. The unfortunate truth is that in the equine world your value is measured by the number of wins, or at least placements, you accumulate, and to that end being able to race more often means having more opportunities to win.
If a female rider is pregnant that means that the national call-ups for the Olympics or other events will have to go to other riders, probably male riders. There is a lot work to be done in the world of professional sports, as far as maternity goes, and for the moment it is the men who are in control.
