The Stillpoint Farm FEI Nations Cup highlighted the start of week seven at the 2024 Adequan® Global Dressage Festival (AGDF) in Wellington, FL. Germany clinched the gold medal for the fourth consecutive year, extending their unbeaten streak in the competition with a total score of 213.369 points. The Dutta Corp-sponsored US team secured silver with 210.978 points, while Sweden took home the bronze with 198.956 points. Canada finished fourth in the competition.

This year marked a significant change in the Nations Cup format, streamlining it for the first time since its inception in Wellington in 2014. Unlike previous editions where countries could enter horse and rider combinations at different levels, the revamped format now requires all competitors to compete at the grand prix level. Placings are determined by adding up the top three scores from each team’s riders. Germany and the United States fielded four team members each, while Sweden and Canada had three members apiece. Individual contests in the CDIO Grand Prix Special and Freestyle classes followed the new format.

The 23-year-old Felicitas Hendricks led the German team’s charge, claiming the top individual spot in the Grand Prix with a score of 72.087%. She was supported by teammates Anna-Christina Abbelen (70.825% on Sam Donnerhall), Frederic Wandres (70.456% on Total Recall), and Michael Klimke, whose score of 67.565% on Uwe Kappel’s 12-year-old Domino 957 served as the drop score for the winning team. Klimke also served as the Chef d’Equipe for the German squad.

Reflecting on her performance, Hendricks expressed her gratitude for being back on the senior German team and highlighted the team’s camaraderie and improvement in scores. She acknowledged areas for further improvement but emphasized the joy of competing with her 13-year-old gelding, Drombusch, in the prestigious ring of AGDF. Hendricks’ dedication to continuous improvement and her partnership with her horse exemplify the spirit of competition at the highest level of dressage.
