Equieffe Equestrian Centre: Saturday’s CSI4* Results

The second day of the second CSI4* at the Equieffe Equestrian Centre in Gorla Minore is in full swing. The international classes valid for the FEI Longines Rankings were split between the Gibus grass arena, which hosted the 150 and 145 classes, and the Equinoxe Mascheroni sand arena, where the 140 class took place. It was an intense day of sport, with riders determined to make their mark at the heart of the outdoor season.

The highlight of the day was the 150 LR presented by Equiline, held in the Gibus grass arena. Elia Simonetti continues his winning streak: first place in the CSI4* 145

In the Gibus grass arena, the 145 against the clock with jump-off saw 40 starters take on a technical and well-designed course set by Andrea Colombo and Louis Konickx. Only 9 pairs made it through to the jump-off. Elia Simonetti claimed victory once again, continuing his excellent form after placing fourth in last week’s CSI4* Grand Prix and winning yesterday’s 140. Riding Klaas B (2015, NED), Simonetti delivered a brilliant double clear in 36.27 seconds, leaving little room for his rivals. Giulia Martinengo Marquet was right on his heels with Girlstar des Baleines (2016, FRA), also jumping clear in the jump-off and finishing in 36.30 seconds, just a few hundredths behind. Matias Larocca of Argentina took third place with Baloe HP (2014, SWE), also going clear but with a time of 38.13 seconds. Fourth place went to young Dutch rider Lars Kersten on Figueras de Laume (2015, FRA), while Robert Murphy of Great Britain rounded out the top five with Catch-Me van Berkenbroeck (2014, BEL), finishing in 40.33 seconds.
