A horse that assaulted an elderly lady in the province of Imperia has been placed in legal care and the owner charged with assault and animal cruelty.
The animal trampled the 75-year-old, causing multiple bruising and spinal injuries. A 45-year-old man, identified as D.F. from Andagna, Imperia has been charged with grievous bodily harm of Giovanna L. of Molini di Triora and mistreating the animal.
The incident occurred in February when the horse broke free and bolted towards the town centre where, after knocking over the victim, disappeared without trace. However thanks to sterling investigative work from the local Caribinieri, who pieced together an identikit of the animal on the basis of eye witness descriptions, the horse and as a consequence its owner were identified and handed to the competent authority.
