Catanzaro welcomes major equestrian event
Everything is set for the Catanzaro event at the Valle dei Mulini racecourse centre from June 23 to 28. Around 150,000 Euro prize money will be made available with 310 horse scheduled to appear over the week. The event is being organised under the guidance of the president of the Catanzaro province Wanda Ferro and the Calabrian Regional branch of the FISE as well as a number of high-profile local sponsors. There are also plenty of top-quality riders including four-time Italian champion Roberto Arioldi, Azzurri stars Juan Carlos Garcia and Filippo Moyersoen and once again the Carabinieri Lorenzo Toscano and Bruno Chimirri, with the latter born in Calabria. In total, there are 32 prizes up for grabs and the event is brought to a close by the Grand Prix on Sunday, June 28th where 40,000 Euro will be on the table. Paolo Rossato will be course organiser with able support from Uliano Vezzani who has been involved in numerous international events. Visitors can get a feel for the course from tomorrow and no doubt the competitors will be out there running their eye over what is to come. The opening ceremony will take place on Thursday and that promises to be something not to be missed as the famous Carabinieri mounted band will be present.
