Aachen 2015: Italy second in medal count after week 1.
With the first week of the European Championships in Aachen now over, it’s time to check out the situation in terms of the medal leader board.
Great Britain are currently in first place with 2 gold medals from Charlotte Dujardin in the individual dressage categories while team GB have also picked up a silver in the dressage team category. Following behind in second we find Italy in the provisional medal leader board after 2 gold medals following the extraordinary performances in the reining: gold in the team and also individual category with Giovanni Masi de Vargas.
Holland are in third with 1 gold medal (dressage team category) and 2 bronze medals (team reining and individual dressage). Incredibly, and after all the expectations going into the games, Germany are in fourth. The host nation have so far amassed 4 silvers and 2 bronzes. Events get going again in Aachen on Wednesday the 19th of August with the driving discipline and the first show-jumping qualifications.
