The last dance for the Hubside Fall Tour

After three weeks of intense competition, the Hubside Fall Tour, embarks on its last days of classes in 2021 from Wednesday October the 14th until Sunday, offering, once again, a great sporting rendezvous. Winner of the last 5* Grand Prix held in Grimaud, Switzerland’s Steve Guerdat will be trying to repeat his performance. Against him, Martin Fuchs, Simon Delestre, Philippe Rozier and Gregory Wathelet, who won last Sunday’s 4* Grand Prix, will be present to challenge him in the sunny arena. On the programme for these five days of classes: 3 levels of competition, as being held in parallel to the CSI 5*, there’s a 1* and a 2* CSI.
The World’s best at Grimaud !
Before the indoor season gets underway, Sadri Fegaier, Chairman and Founder of Hubside Jumping Grimaud – Golfe de St Tropez and himself a rider, is once again giving the World’s best show-jumpers the opportunity to enjoy the sun and relaxed atmosphere of the Côte d’Azur. The stars of the discipline will be numerous again this week in Grimaud and will only have one aim, to win Sunday’s 1.60m Grand Prix that carries a total of 200,000 euros in prize money.
Amongst the most intense competitors, Germany’s Hans-Dieter Dreher is expected in addition to the European team champions at Rotterdam (2019), the Belgians Jos Verlooy, the brilliant Grégory Wathelet, triumphant here last weekend, and their compatriot François Mathy Jr, winner of the 1.45m CSI 4* speed class last week. The Irish rider Mark McAuley, who was in great form during the first week of the Hubside Fall Tour (16th -19th September), the Italians Filippo Marco Bologni and Emanuele Gaudiano, always a formidable opponent with his Carlotta 232, and the Argentinean José Maria Larocca will also be in the running. The Dutch Jur Vrieling, team silver and then gold medallist at the London Olympic Games (2012) and the World Equestrian Games in Caen (2014), is to be closely watched. The Spaniards Sergio Alvarez Moya and Pilar Lucrecia Cordon along with the Colombians, Carlos Lopez and his brother René, victorious on Thursday 7th of October in the 1.50m 4* Grand Prix, will have also their word to say. Switzerland, can, as usual, count on two of its best representatives, Martin Fuchs and Steve Guerdat, respectively ranked n°3 and n°6 in the World, and will be favourites.
The French delegation is also looking good with the presence of Philippe Rozier, who had the best French performance in last Sunday’s Grand Prix (4th), Nicolas Delmotte, Simon Delestre and Pénélope Leprévost who all took part in the Tokyo Olympic Games in August, and not forgetting Titouan Schumacher and Bruno Garez. Julien Epaillard (the World n°12), will also be coming to challenge his opponents one last time on the Riviera, with no less than 5 victories already to his name during the Hubside Fall Tour, he’s no stranger to prize-giving ceremonies in the Grimaud arena.
With a superb programme in store, the Hubside Jumping Grimaud – Golfe de St Tropez shouldn’t fail to attract spectators, horse riding enthusiasts, or simply the curious in search of great sport, sun, horses, and with the boutiques present on-site relaxation as well.
If entry is free and open to all during the 4 days of competition, those who are unable to travel have access to all the classes live on Grand Prix TV.
